Classic Stacker

Our Classic Lumber Stacker has earned an excellent reputation for quality and reliability in hundreds of mills for over three decades. Sturdy construction and coordinated controls allow our Stacker to place tiers accurately and consistently at speeds to match production flow rates. It accommodates a wide range of package sizes, and can be customized with the many options available.

  • Power assisted tier adjust mechanism is now standard
  • Can be retrofit into most existing production lines
  • Variable speed fork drive and power assisted tier width adjustment
  • Stacker hoist uses an indexing photo eye for consistent stack heights

High Speed Stacker

High Speed StackerOur Lumber Stackers have earned an excellent reputation for quality and reliability based on performance in hundreds of mills. Our High Speed Stacker combines top end performance with ruggedly reliable design. This Stacker pre-stages the lumber tiers, separating the tier dividing action from the stacking fork movement. This allows the stacker fork motion to be controlled smoothly, even at very high speeds.

  • Can be installed into most existing production line
  • Delivered as a self-contained, pre-plumbed unit
  • Fully compatible with any Newnes/McGehee Stick or Lath Placers.
  • Pre-staging the tiers gives the operator a look at each tier before it goes out onto the package
  • Power assisted tier width adjustment gives positive control of tier width for various lumber products
  • Beam hoist with an indexing photo eye and tier counter ensures fast stacking and long lasting, reliable operation

Rotary Vacuum Lath Placer

Rotary Vacuum Lath PlacerThe Newnes/McGehee Rotary Vacuum Lath Placer automatically places lath onto predetermined tiers of a lumber package during the stacking cycle. The unique new design of this lath placer uses a vacuum system to handle very thin veneer lath down to a thickness of 1/10", or rough sawn lath up to 3/16". The Rotary Vacuum Lath Placer requires minimum maintenance and is built to operate in extreme temperature conditions.

  • Can be installed into most existing production lines
  • Individually controlled magazines are open, accessible and easily filled by the Stacker operator
  • Compact sturdy design minimizes installation time and maintenance requirements
  • Individual controls for each magazine allow easy change between stacking patterns
  • Thin lath reduces costs and lowers package height
  • Minimum space and power requirements
The Rotary Vacuum Lath Placer is also available with Moving Hoppers and with optional Tier Tampers that achieve an end finish as good as with an Endpress.

Magazine Lath Placer

The traditional Newnes/McGehee Lath Placer is an economical method of automatically placing lath on packages. This machine is capable of handling rough sawn lath 1/4" thick or thicker. It can be configured as fixed hoppers or moving hoppers. Optional stick/lath hopper configurations are also available.

PUTT System

PUTT SystemThe Newnes/McGehee PUTT System can be added to most Lath Placers. PUTT stands for Poly Under Top Tier, an additional plastic vapor barrier that protects the package from the elements.

The PUTT System is especially intended for packages of top grade lumber shipped to overseas markets.

A polyethylene layer is placed between the top layer of wood and the layer immediately below. The process is automated as the machine clamps and pulls a sheet of plastic across the package. It then cuts the sheet and retracts out of the way, allowing the last tier to be placed.
