Section and Zone Breakdown:
- These Dryers are Normally Arranged with One Air Flow Zone Having Standard Sections, Manifold Sections, Dry End Seal Section and a Wet End Seal Section. Longitudinal or Jet Cooling is also Provided along with the Feed Section and Unloader
Feed Section:
- The Feed Section Receives Veneer Sheets and Delivers them to the Dryer at Dryer Speed. It Consists of Ball Bearing Supported Rolls and a Structural Steel Frame
- The Feed Section Uses only Bottom Rolls with a Single Top Flattening Roll at the Dryer Entrance to Assure the Entry of Wavy Veneer into the Double Roll Conveyor of the Dryer
- A Veneer Lapping System Can be Provided on Each Deck to Remove End Gaps Between Veneer Sheets as they Shrink in the Drying Process
Dryer Conveyor:
- The Top and Bottom Dryer Rolls Are Fabricated From 3-3/4" Diameter, 12 Gauge Welded Steel Tubes that are Mounted on 5-1/4", 7" or 9" Horizontal Centers Throughout the Dryer and on 12" Horizontal Centers in the Cooler
- The Bottom Deck Drive Rolls Run in Special Graphite Bearings which are Mounted in Individual Cast Iron Brackets while the Top Rolls Run in Cast Open Yokes Allowing the Top Roll to Move up and Automatically Adjust for the Feeding of Various Veneer Thicknesses
- All the Bottom Deck Drive Rolls are Powered by Tangent Steel Roller Chains, One per Deck, by Means of Hook Tooth Sprockets
- The Deck Conveyors are Powered by Either a Special Drive Rig with Anti-friction Bearings and Internal Cascade Oil System or Individual Deck Gear Motors with Frequency Drives and Linked Controls
- An Automatic Deck Drive Chain Tightener Equipped with a Safety Mechanism for Stopping the Conveyor if the Chains Become Slack or Develop Excessive Tension is Provided
Frame:
- The Frame is of Bolted and Welded Steel Construction, Designed for Maximum Strength and Machine Accessibility while Supporting the Rolls, Coils, Fans and Heaters
- Adjustable Anchor Points Allow for the Dryer Sides to be Properly Aligned while the rest of the Machine is Supported by Expansion Rollers Allowing for Thermal Expansion and Contraction
Air Systems:
- The Complete Air System includes the Recirculation Duct, Supply and Exhaust Manifolds and Duct Air Heater
- The Main Dryer Recirculating Air System will be Powered by Two Airfoil Centrifugal Fans Driven by Separate High Efficiency Motors
- The Recirculating Duct is Constructed from Insulated Panels Manufactured with Either Mild Steel or Stainless Steel Inside and Outside Sheets
- All Access Platforms and Doors are Provided where Needed
- Nominal Length Vent Stacks are Provided at the Green End Seal, Dry End Seal and Cooler Sections
Wet End Seal Section:
- This First Enclosed Section is Fitted with a Small Exhaust Fan and Temperature Monitoring Equipment
Dry End Seal Section:
- This the Main Dryer Exhaust Point is Located Between the Last Drying Section and First Cooling Section. It is Fitted with Fixed Manifolds, Insulated Cross Duct and a Shop Insulated Airfoil Bladed Exhaust Fan with either and Inlet Damper or Frequency Drive
- Special Tight Sealing Stop-off Baffles are Provided at the Discharge End of this Section
- The Dryer Can Be Furnished with Our Patented "Dry End Seal Exhaust System" which Automatically Controls Dryer Pressure and Exhaust, Maximizes Sheet Quality and Production while Minimizing Air Intake and Fugitive Emissions
Cooling Section:
- Consist of an Enclosed, Un-insulated Section with Double Roller Conveyor and a Jet or Cross Circulations Draw-through Type Single Pass Fan Powered Air System
End Baffles: (Stop-offs)
- Heavy-duty End Closure Baffles are Provided at the Green End of the Dryer and also at the Entrance and Exit of the Cooling Section
Dryer Doors:
- Hinged Insulated Doors of Welded Steel Frame Construction are Provided on Each Side of Each Section
- The Doors can be Constructed from either Mild Steel or Stainless Steel Inside and Outside Sheets
- Supply and Return Manifold Sections are of the Fixed, Bolted and Seal Welded Type with a Tubular Steel Frame and Either Mild Steel or Stainless Steel Inside and Outside Sheets. The Interior of each Supply Manifold is Fitted with Turning Vanes, Balanced Air Entry Snouts and Adjustable Deck Balancing Dampers
Insulated Floor:
- An Insulated and Sealed Floor Can be Provided in the Heating Sections, Wet End Seal Section, Dry End Seal Section and Forced Draft Cooling Sections to Improve Efficiency and Reduce Fugitive Emissions
Controls and Instrumentation:
- Indicating Thermometers are Mounted at the Beginning and end of the Drying Chamber for Walk by Observation
- A Drying Time Recorder for Indicating Drying Time in Minutes is Provided
- A Temperature Recorder-Controller is Provided to adjust the Energy Input and to Record Temperatures at the Wet and Dry End of the Drying Chamber
- A Temperature Recorder and Controller is Provided to Monitor and Record the Differential Temperatures for Automatic Exhaust Control Along with Actual Exhaust Temperatures
- A Main Operator's Control Console is Provided where the Speed Recorder, Temperature Controllers and Touch Screen Allows Operator Interface for Control of All Fans, Conveyor Drives and Exhaust Controls
